This month, Dr.Varshney discussed developing machine learning systems that are accurate, fair, robust, explainable, and inclusive. Accuracy isn’t enough; models must also be fair, resilient, and understandable. The design should be transparent and aim to help people without harm. Experts see these challenges as key to making AI safe and trustworthy. We applied these ideas to both traditional and foundation models.
